A Creighton High School sophomore has earned the opportunity to compete in an international HOSA (Future Health Professionals) contest, June 19-22, in Orlando, Fla.
In March, Samantha Crockett, daughter of Robert and Susan Crockettt of Creighton, placed third in the Nebraska HOSA Pharmacology Knowledge Test.
“Due to the severe flooding and road damage in March, the chapter was not able to attend,” said Creighton HOSA adviser, Jan Nelson. “Several of the exams didn’t require a practical component, so Samantha’s score counted in the state placings.”
Eight other HOSA members completed online tests, and/or prepared simulations for the Nebraska State Leadership Conference, including Ashtyn Fritz, Clarissa Becker, Cydnee Coutts, Kendyll Tiedtke, Katharina Rice, Maycee Zimmerer, Averi Diedrichsen and Bryna Fanta.
“Though we couldn’t attend, everyone gained a great deal of experience from completing the preliminary tests and practice.”
Nelson acknowledged local health porfessionals, Kathleen Becker and Tammy Reicks, for coaching some of the students, and the Avera’s Community Partnership program, for sponsoring registration fees.
