Multiple law enforcement agencies worked overnight using several K-9 units in Knox County as they searched for a Creighton man who allegedly ran from police.
According to Knox County Sheriff Don Henery, Kevin Asbury, who was out on bond from a previous arrest, ran from law enforcement Tuesday night after the vehicle he was in was pulled over northwest of Creighton.
Henery said it is believed that the vehicle Asbury ran from was involved in a pursuit Friday night with the Santee Sioux Nation Police near the Lindy area. Santee law enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle due to fictitious plates.
That vehicle was later recovered Tuesday in Creighton by the Nebraska State Patrol. Henery said both the Creighton Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the pursuit of Asbury on Tuesday, who fled by foot from the scene about three miles west and one mile north of Creighton.
Multiple K-9 units from both the State Patrol and Santee Police assisted in the search for Asbury on Tuesday, which concluded around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. Henery said evidence indicates that Asbury was picked up by another driver and left that immediate area.
Henery said several people, who have not been identified at this time, have been arrested in the case. However, Asbury remains at large as of Wednesday morning.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are continuing to collaborate on the investigation and search for Asbury.
