A former Creighton man charged in the death of his 4-month-old baby pleaded no contest to one of the two charges against him as part of a plea agreement in Knox County District Court on Tuesday.

Edward Stephen Davis, 30, pleaded no contest to child abuse resulting in death, a class 1B felony. In exchange, Knox County Attorney John Thomas agreed to drop the  manslaughter charge, a class 2A felony, in connection with the 2021 death of his infant, Ender Davis. 

Judge James Kube found him guilty of the felony charge and ordered a presentence investigation report.

Davis will be sentenced in Knox County District Court on Sept. 27.
