Private family services for Leo Carlow, age 94, of Bloomfield, Nebraska will be Friday, February 19, 2021, at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Reverend Lynde Linde will officiate, with burial in Bloomfield City Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4996, American Legion Post 249, and Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Masks are required.
Leo died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at his residence.
Leo Louie Carlow, youngest son of Theodore and Lizzie (Nansen) Carlow, was born June 18, 1926. He grew up on a farm and received his education until the eighth grade at country schools in Knox County. Leo farmed with his father and brothers and later joined the United States Army and fought during the Korean War.
Returning home, Leo bought his own farm place where he raised and cared for many hogs for himself and others. In 2006, Leo had a farm sale and moved to Mainview Apartments. He made his home there for fifteen years. Poor health became a problem, but he was able to remain in his home until his passing. Leo will be missed by many.
Leo is survived by his sister-in-law, Alice Carlow; nephews and nieces, Jim Carlow, Mike Doering, Roger (Janice) Doering, Ray (Mary) Doering, Kurt (Pat) Doering, Joyce Zila, Marilyn (Roger) Schortzman, Alberta (Terry) Surprenant, Duane (Connie) Carlow, Tim (Robin) McCallistor, Leland Carlow, Milton Carlow, Gayle (Robert) Krohn, and Janelle Doering; special friends, Michael and Debbie Hoffman who were always there for him; and many cousins, family, friends, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, August in infancy, Minnie (Hugo) Doering, Julius Carlow, Ferdinand Carlow, Albert Carlow, George (Leona) Carlow, and Raymond (Vera) Carlow; and niece and nephews, Dennis Carlow, Rose McKibbon, Roger Carlow, and Loren Carlow in infancy.
