A Memorial Mass for Charley Milton Brandt, age 89, of Creighton, Nebraska will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019, at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Reverend Jeremy Hans will be Celebrant.
Military Honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1151 and American Legion Post 74.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service.
Charley died Monday, August 5, 2019, at Avera Creighton Hospital. He has donated his body for scientific research.
Charley Milton Brandt, son of Fletcher and Esther (Noe) Brandt, was born March 26, 1930, seven miles north of Royal, Nebraska at the family home. He attended Mars School District 28, north of Royal. Charley served in the United States Army from September 21, 1951 until June 21, 1953. He was a member of the 3rd Platoon A. Company, 14th Infantry 25th Division and was stationed in Korea from April 1952 to February 1953. On April 10, 1958, Charley was united in marriage to Elizabeth Eggerling at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, Nebraska. They were blessed with seven children: Michael, Thomas, Debra, Francis, Catherine, Rita, and Richard.
Charley and Elizabeth lived and farmed ten miles west and three-fourths of a mile south of Creighton before moving into town after they retired.
Charley is survived by his children, Mike (Cindy) Brandt of Royal, Tom Brandt of Creighton, Debra (Kevin) Allan of Bellevue, Frank Brandt of Yankton, South Dakota, Cathy (Todd) Zehr of Lincoln, Rita Brandt of Lincoln, and Rick (Carrie) Brandt of Norfolk; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Lyle (Evelyn) Brandt of Creighton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Brandt; parents, Fletcher and Esther Brandt; granddaughter, Amanda Brandt; great-granddaughter, Sadie Lewon; sisters, Alice (Bernard) Schroeder and Leona (Lloyd) Timperley; a brother in infancy; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Mabel Eggerling.
