All-star basketball

Area senior basketball standouts will have one more opportunity to hit the court in May.

Ashtyn Fritz has been selected to play in the Niobrara Valley Conference versus North Central Nebraska All-Star Game, scheduled Friday, May 24, at O’Neill High School.

Fritz will play for the Red Team, which includes Miranda Summers of Ewing, Hannah Ollendick and Sierra Rystrom, Elkhorn Valley; Allyson Wemhoff, Elgin Public/Pope John; Sydney Atkinson, Boyd County; Marina Fessler, Stuart; Claire Morrow, O’Neill and Paige Nissen, Wausa.

Greg Appleby, Ewing, and Brendan Dittmer, EV, will coach the team.

Suiting up for the White Team will be Megan Cook, Niobrara/Verdigre; Katie Stearns, Clearwater/Orchard, Amber Miller, Elkhorn Valley; Carlie Wetzel, Peyton Randolph and Leyton Mlady, West Holt; Emma Stahlecker, Battle Creek; Brianna Bauer, O’Neill and Shelby Jones, Ainsworth.

Coaches will be CWC’s Laurel O’Malley and Mike Pardun, West Holt.

The roster for the boys Red Team, coached by Sean Sterkel, Ainsworth, and Matt Korkow, Boyd County, includes

Ryan Wilhelm, OC; Cole Belitz and Austin Rice, Neligh-Oakdale; Grady Semin, St. Mary’s; Dennis Herrera, O’Neill; Gage Delimont, Ainsworth; Kyle Schumacher, EPPJ, Colton Munger and Jakob Herten, North Central; and Evan Reiman, BC.

White Team, members will include Blake Hoke and Jacob Long, OC; Isiac Kurpgeweit, N-O; Ethan Sattler and Isaac Steinhauser, Stuart; Francisco Perez, O’Neill; Keaton Eichberger, Plainview; Kooper Jelinek and Jordan Tasler, WH and Tyson Kaiser, Wausa.

Ethan Larsen, Neligh-Oakdale, and Tim Schindler, Wausa, will coach the White Team.
