The Creighton Thunder 16 and 18-and-under traveled to Hartington this weekend for the Class C State Tournament.

Thunder won the first game on Friday against the McCook Rebels 11-1. Nebraska Rage fell to Thunder, 0-2.

A one-point game was won against the O’Neill Heat.

The first loss of the tournament came from Gresham Blackbirds, who later won the state title.  Seward Jazz lost to Creighton in another one-point game, 6-7. West Point Bluejays handed Thunder its second loss of the tournament, 4-5. Bluejays earned runner-up in the tournament, while the Creighton girls took fourth out of 31 teams.

“The girls beat some teams in the tournament that they had not beaten in regular season games. They gave a lot of fight and effort this weekend and showed how much love they have for the game. Kacie (Maier) and I are very proud of the team,” said coach Whitney Zimmerer.
