The Creighton/Bloomfield Senior Legion baseball season came to an end in Hartington at districts on Monday night. 

Hartington pulled ahead and won by one point, 10-9 in eight innings.

CB got a point on the score board in the first inning on a walk to Bryce Zimmerer, but Hartington answered with two runs in the bottom of the first. 

Three CB runners crossed home plate in the second inning on three hits. 

In the third inning, the hometown boys added four runs on one hit and two errors to bring the score to 8-2. Pitcher Levi Stacken held Hartington’s offense scoreless in the second and third innings, but Hartington found their momentum in the fourth, and scored six runs. Alex Homan took over the pitcher’s mound with one out in the inning. Two runs were given up before the final two outs were made. 

Inning five and six were scoreless on both sides of the field. 

CB took the lead in the seventh inning, 9-8, but Hartington came back to tie in the bottom of the inning.

Hartington scored one in the bottom of the eighth inning for the victory. Dain Whitmore started on the mound for Hartington, and due to pitch count, was replaced by winning pitcher Seth Wiebelhaus. 

CB scored nine runs on seven hits ans committed two errors, while Hartington scored 10 runs on eight hits and committed three errors. CB left seven men on base and Hartington left 11 men on base. 

Hartington will face Ponca in the championship. Ponca has beaten Hartington twice to earn a trip to state in previous years. 

The tournament began on Saturday where CB took a 16-5 victory over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge. The first loss of the tournament came from Ponca, 1-8. CB eliminated Crofton for the season with a one point win, 10-9.
