The Creighton golf team has began practicing for the spring season.

“I am excited to be involved with the sport of golf,” said first-year head coach Chase Maier. “We have a great team this year. We have three returning varsity players, Bryce Zimmerer, Braxton Brockhaus and Conner Hammer, from a team last year that qualified for state and finished third. Also, we have others who have really matured physically, Brennan Pint, Tyler Wagner and Trenton Mathis, and it will be exciting to see what they can do for us this year.”

Two new golfers joined the team, Kendyll Tiedtke and Alicia Applegate.

“(It) will be fun to see how they improve throughout the season,” Maier said.

On March 25, the team will travel to Plainview for its first competition, a quadrangular meet hosted by Plainview.

Assistant Creighton coaches are Gary Hammer and Dave Huston.
