The Creighton varsity golf boys brought home the trophy when they went to Plainview for the invitational Monday.
Braxton Brockhaus was the overall winner of the day, carding an 80. Conner Hammer was runner-up with an 81.
Bryce Zimmerer placed fifth with 84 strokes. Brennan Pint was 16th with a 95 and Tyler Wagner was 31st place with 107.
The team’s score was five strokes under West Holt’s 345. Neligh-Oakdale finished in third place with 377 and Randolph was fourth with 387.
The Bulldog golf team fell out of top contention at the Lutheran High Northeast invite last Thursday.
They placed fifth out of 13 teams. Battle Creek won the invitational with 341, followed by Wayne, 350, Crofton, 376, Pierce, 379 and Creighton, 380. The host school took sixth place with 381, Norfolk Catholic scored 387, Ponca, 393, West Point-Beemer, 395, Norfolk junior varsity, 403, Wisner-Pilger, 404, Wakefield-Allen, 458 and Madison, 482.
“The golf team ran into some tough competition from bigger schools at the Norfolk Country Club,” said activities director Randy Kliment.
Individually two Creighton golfers placed in the top 15. Brockhaus carded an 88 for 14th place and Hammer shot an 89 for 15th.
The team came out on top of a quad held at Summerland Golf Course the previous Monday.
The Creighton team scored a 177. Clearwater/Orchard placed second with 190, followed by Chambers/Wheeler Central, 236 and Niobrara/Verdigre, 258.
Creighton’s Brockhaus earned medalist honors with 39 strokes. Hammer carded a 41 for second place. Zimmerer finished the course in 45 strokes for fourth place overall.
Pint and Wagner each shot a 52, for seventh place.
Also competing were Chase Pavlik and Trenton Mathis, each carding 66.
Alicia Applegate carded a 39 and Kendyll Tiedtke shot a 48 from the 150-yard fairway markers.
Creighton will travel to West Holt’s invitational Saturday.
