Cade Kalkowski, a Niobrara, Nebraska native, not only earned a 2nd place medal for Wayne State College in their recent Conference contest, he also tossed the 35-pound weight far enough to get himself ranked nationally.
Kalkowski’s mark in the weight throw event was 20.50 meters (which converts to 67’ 3 ¼”) and currently ranks nationally as the 6th best throw this year in NCAA Division II. This was also a lifetime best mark for him in the event.
His success this season in the weight throw has earned Kalkowski a repeat trip to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship competition, which will be held in Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, March 13th.
Last year, Kalkowski placed 7th in the NCAA National Championships and earned NCAA All-American honors in the indoor event. Since he landed in the top 8 at at Nationals last year, he earned “All-American” status.
